Yesterday, Bottega Veneta presented its Fall/Winter 2020 collection at Milan Fashion Week. This season creative director Daniel Lee presented an assortment of wardrobe staples and statement pieces, but nothing stood out quite like the Maison’s new biodegradable boot.
The new boots debuted by Bottega are entirely crafted from 100 percent biodegradable material. Not only that, but the new footwear is also unisex, sent down the runway on both male and female models. The chunky boot’s shape is strongly reminiscent of clogs — for Bottega Veneta, a completely new brand of footwear much more quirky and playful than its signature sleek pieces.
Presented in an array of colors, including brown, neon green and hot pink, the gender-defying chunky boot was expertly paired with varying silhouettes and styles, making it the unexpected finishing touch to the elegant SS20 looks.
On one model, a nude iteration of the boot complimented a knee-length vest in the brand’s quintessential intreccio weave, with a matching turtleneck and black pants. Elsewhere, a bold hot pink boot peaked through the slit of a matching sequin dress and a loud green iteration of the shoe added a playful accent to a sculptural black trench coat and cream trousers.
Swipe through the gallery below for some lessons in styling our new favorite boot.
There’s no news yet on how much this boot will retail for once it arrives in stores. Keep it here for more information.
Last night, Rihanna received the President’s Award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards. In her speech, RiRi called for solidarity in the fight against racial injustice.
The singer-turned-entrepreneur was presented with the award for her work with the Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012. During her acceptance speech, Rihanna shared what she has learned through her philanthropic work. “We can’t do it divided. I cannot emphasize that enough. We can’t let the de-sensitivity seep in.”
After asking the crowd how many had non-black friends, Riri stressed how those friends should “pull up” for black issues, too. “Well, they want to break bread with you, right? They like you? Well, then this is their problem, too. So when we’re marching and protesting and posting about the Michael Brown Jr.’s and Atatiana Jefferson’s of the world, tell your friends to pull up.”
Watch Rihanna’s full speech below.
Still get weirded out by going to the movies alone, or treating yourself for dinner or drinks out? You’re becoming the minority: Americans are traveling alone more and more. The world is better connected than ever before, which means that it’s easier to head off on a solo journey — and new advancements in personal tech and gadgets mean you’re safer, less lonely, and more entertained when you do.
We personally love a solo trip, but there are definitely some things to keep in mind and bring with you on the road. These include a decent set of headphones, a light pair of speakers, portable chargers, and a good camera. We’ve pulled together our top picks for gadgets to bring along on your next adventure.
If you’re considering taking a long-haul flight, or embarking on a solo trip, the first thing that comes to mind is that you’ll need a great, sturdy pair of noise-canceling headphones. These MW65’s are incredibly light, making them easy to take on the go, and feature custom 40mm Beryllium drivers, meaning you’ll get crisp sound. They also come with a cable and flight adapter, so you can easily listen to in-flight entertainment.
If you’re not keen on bringing a big pair of over-ear headphones, and in-ear suits you fine, then look no further than the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 3rd Gen in-ear earphones. These little guys are good looking, discrete, and pack just as much as sound quality as chunkier models.
If you’re looking for an all-around solid point-and-shoot camera with superzoom functionality, look no further than the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS. For a reasonable price, you’ll get UHD 4K video recording and 7.4fps burst shooting, meaning this camera should capture all the travel action you encounter.
For the more serious filmmakers and travel vloggers, this kit featuring the PowerShot G7 Mark III has everything you need. This means you get a tripod, Bluetooth remote, 32GB memory card, an extra battery pack, and the camera itself has 4K video recording, live streaming, and vertical video support.
Here’s a practical piece of equipment you probably haven’t thought about: a wireless flight adapter. Gone are the days of trying to cram those filthy, uncomfortable little airplane headphones into your ear to watch old Friends reruns on your 6-hour flight. This wireless adapter can turn any signal from a 3.5mm device or in-flight socket into a hi-fi Bluetooth signal, allowing you to send the audio right to your wireless headphones. You’re welcome!
Portable charger — enough said.
Unless you don’t mind getting an insanely astronomical phone bill in the mail, you’ll want to be careful with when and how you spend your precious data abroad. We’re offering up an alternative: a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. This 4G LTE hotspot promises fast Wi-Fi in more than 130 countries, lasts up to 18 hours on a single charge, and fits right into your pocket.
Sonos makes some of the best affordable audio tech out there, so it comes as no surprise that they make a damn good portable speaker. The Sonos Move is a durable, battery-powered smart speaker that is weather-proof AND drop-resistant — ideal for travel. It allows for Bluetooth streaming, so no Wi-Fi is no problem!

Studio Ghibli has released soundtracks from its celebrated films across major streaming platforms, for the first time ever. This is the Japanese animation studio’s latest move in an effort to make its canon more widely available online.
Soundtracks from 23 Studio Ghibli films, representing the studio’s entire body of work with the exception of 1988’s Grave of the Fireflies, have been made available on streamers Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and YouTube Music. The albums include music from cult favorites Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro.
In addition to the films’ soundtracks, the studio has also compiled 15 “image albums”, featuring music inspired by Studio Ghibli, making a total of 693 tracks. You can stream the full Studio Ghibli soundtrack collection below.
Until recently, the legendary Japanese animation company had long been averse to streaming. Studio Ghibli announced that it would make its full filmography available online just last year, with its catalogue arriving to Netflix earlier this month.
The coronavirus has struck Italy this weekend. The virus outbreak hit major cities in Northern Italy, including Milan, which is currently wrapping up Fashion Week. According to CNN, Italy is suffering “the worst outbreak outside of Asia.”

Scheduled for 4 pm today, the show is being filmed inside of an empty theater and live-streamed on Armani’s Instagram account. No press or buyers will be allowed inside. “This is a preventative measure decided by Mr. Armani to support national efforts in safeguarding public health,” said Armani in the IG post below.

Eminem recently sat down with Kxng Crooked for his first interview since dropping Music To Be Murdered By. On Crook’s Corner, the two discussed, amon Lord Jamar‘s comments about Eminem “being a guest” of hip-hop.
Refusing to mention Jamar, Eminem said, “I don’t know if I’ve got a chance to say this yet, but the funny shit is with the whole beef with a certain person, I never said I wasn’t a guest.” He then explained how he sees himself in the hip-hop game. “I’m absolutely a guest. I never said I wasn’t. And I never said I was king of anything. I never want to be the king of hip-hop.” Hit the 20:50 mark below to hear Eminem’s comments.
Following Eminem’s statement, Lord Jamar took to Twitter to respond. “I guess his EGO wouldn’t allow him to say ‘Lord Jamar was right the whole time, & I was buggin for coming at him the way I did…my bad…I am a guest in the house of Hip Hop.’

As fans may remember, Eminem dissed Jamar on his latest album, Music To Be Murdered By. On the track “I Will,” Eminem rapped, “Yeah, your group was off the chain, but you were the weakest link,” which many saw as a dig aimed at Jamar. Following the diss, Jamar revealed that Eminem isn’t his “cup of tea,” adding that the rapper is a “guest in the house of hip-hop.”
