The last two episodes of the ten-part “The Last Dance” documentary are set to air tonight, and thanks to it, Michael Jordan fever has reached new heights. Over a decade-and-a-half after #23 laced up his Jordans for the last time, MJ is still setting records as a pair of his game-worn shoes has set the new mark for the most valuable kicks ever sold at auction. Though Sotheby’s opened the auction a week ago and expected the “Chicago” Jordan 1s from 1985 to go for around $150,000, the results dunked on that estimate with a closing bid of $560,000.
This particular pair of Jordans, which were sold by collector Jordan Geller (nice name, by the way), was rocked by Michael in his standout rookie season and are signed by the GOAT himself.
Also, just a reminder that if you want a pair of Chicago 1s for yourself, though they won’t run you a half a million, prices on the original AJ1 style are currently skyrocketing on the aftermarket.
