Amidst the controversy at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, Google has decided to show their support for gay rights via a Doodle on their home page. The Doodle coincides with the opening of the 2014 Winter Olympics and includes a quote from the Olympic Charter, which reads:
The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
Clicking the Doodle leads to a Google search of “Olympic Charter” which users can scroll through to find out more about the rules and guidelines for the organization of the Olympic Games, and for governing the Olympic movement.
