The Remix Oddity pack from adidas Originals for Spring/Summer 2014 includes two familiar sneakers, the Matchplay and high-top Basketball Profi. Chrome Industries Reflective Camo “2nd Issue” Bag Collection

For this edition, Chrome Industries took a Swedish M90 geometric camouflage pattern and overlaid it with a rain camouflage print that incorporates a special glass bead finish which reflects light from up to 100 feet. During the day, these bags appear to be covered in the geometric M90 camo and at night — under a light — they showoff the overlaid reflective rain camo. POW! WOW! Hawaii 2014 Street Art Festival

Centered around a week-long event in Hawaii, POW! WOW! is a gathering of contemporary artists that engages with the broader community in the process and creation of art. The show includes galleries, lectures, murals, concerts and live art installations across the globe, with a central event in the Kaka-ako district of Honolulu from February 8 to 15. POW! WOW! brings together hundreds of international and local artists for a series of free public events, so if you find yourself in Hawaii, be sure to check it out. The calendar of free public events follows:

• POW! WOW!: Exploring The New Contemporary Art Movement Exhibition.
Curated by Andrew Hosner from Thinkspace Gallery and presented by POW! WOW! The opening exhibition of 2014′s festival will explore the new contemporary art movement through one of the industry’s leading curators and gallerist. Located at the Honolulu Museum of Art School, 111 Victoria Street, Honolulu. Opening will be on Saturday, February 8th between 6pm to 10pm. Exhibition will run between February 8th and the 15th. Open to all ages.

The New York Times Examines Sneaker Rivalries Amongst NBA Players

When it comes to on court apparel, one of the only ways NBA players can differentiate themselves from teammates is through their shoe choice – as the NBA has a strict dress code. The New York Times recently explored several sneaker enthusiasts in the Association who despite being payed to endorse certain brands, still shell out several thousands of dollars a month to build their collection. P. J. Tucker, a forward with the Phoenix Suns, really likes sneakers. He likes them so much, in fact, that he needs four locations to store his collection.

He keeps some at his home in Phoenix, where about 200 pairs are piled in boxes next to his bed. He stacks others in the locker room at US Airways Center, where he occupies two stalls.

His mother has been gracious enough to stow several dozen at her home. She was, after all, the person who enabled his shoe-buying habit as a child, driving him to a Footaction store whenever the latest pair of Jordans was available.

And then there is the climate-controlled warehouse in North Carolina, not far from where he grew up, where Tucker stashes the bulk of his 2,000-pair collection. He does his best to label the boxes; otherwise, he might forget what he owns.

“My mom asks me all the time, When is it going to be enough?” Tucker said. “I don’t know. It’s an obsession. It’s something that I love. My vice is shoes.”

Tucker has a lot of company. The love affair between N.B.A. players and their basketball shoes has never been more passionate. The players’ unquenchable thirst for footwear is evident on the court, where they cycle through styles hourly, it seems, and at home, where shoe boxes teeter in players’ closets like pieces in a Jenga game.

Take a Look Inside Frank Thiel’s ‘Nowhere is a Place’ Exhibition at Sean Kelly

For the past two decades, Frank Thiel has recorded the changing architectural landscape of post-reunification Berlin with densely textured, large-scale color photographs. Nowhere is a Place marks the international debut of Thiel’s latest work, in which he turned his camera on the massive glacial ice formations in Argentine Patagonia. Thiel visited Patagonia for the first time fifteen years ago and its overwhelming power stayed with him. He returned in 2011 and 2012 for several site visits and to create these images.

Highlighting the exhibition is Thiel’s largest works to date, an almost thirty-foot long, five-panel photograph of the leading edge of the Perito Moreno glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. The exhibition also includes an image of the terminus of the Piedras Blancas glacier, revealing the almost lunar-like landscape of the rocky, barren ground as the glacier recedes.

Staple Spring 2014 “Opposites Attract” Lookbook

Staple uses mesh nylons, patterned polyesters, yarn-dyed jerseys and chambrays to make the transition from heavy outerwear to light, breathable casual wear for the warmer months ahead. This collection introduces a new collaboration with British artist Dave White who incorporated his stylized brush strokes into the brand’s signature pigeon. The collection is also home to a collaboration with Jack Stocker — recognized for his minimal, iconic sneaker illustrations – who takes the Jordan 1, Air Max 90 and Staple x Nike Dunks and puts them onto graphic T-shirts. Additionally, the second delivery of the collection will include a polarized, laser-etched Knockaround Sunglasses collaboration that features the signature Staple colorway of grey and pink. The Spring 2014 collection will be available at select retailers beginning February 5.

Nike Air Tech Challenge II

A revamp of the iconic 1990s court shoe worn by Andre Agassi, the Nike Air Tech Challenge II now boasts bold color blocking and embroidered numerals near the heel. Originally designed with the sport’s unique demands in mind, the shoe’s upper is constructed of premium white leather, whereas the toe panel is formed by TecTuff leather. The panel’s solar orange hue and arched design recall the rock formations of the vast Australian Outback while the vivid blue midsole and rear references the iconic hue of the tennis hard court surfaces.
