Alongside the brand’s signature stripes, the star symbol naturally makes an appearance on the new handbags, clutches, keychains, wallets and more. Additionally, one of the plain red clutches features a gilded shark tooth zipper pull, a detail that represents good luck. adidas Skateboarding ZX Vulc – In addition the the Stan Smith, adidas is also bringing the legendary ZX running style into their skate line in 2014. The shoe sports the ZX runner’s toe shoe and heel detail with a skate-specific vulcanized outsole and a one-piece upper designed to resist blowouts.
Chocolate Jerry Hsu “Butthead” Deck – New Chocolate pro Jerry Hsu’s latest deck has him channelling Butthead out and we couldn’t love it more. The Crail family also has a forthcoming Lakai shoe done in collaboration with Van Styles to look out for.
Herschel 3M Wallet Collection – Herschel officially partnered with 3M on a selection of reflective wallets and pouches for Fall 2014. Silver and black under normal conditions, but hit them with the light and things get flashy. You know how it goes. Look for a strong pouch line up from Herschel this year as well.
Komono Patterned Watches – Komono continues to push forth a variety of watches with patterned bands for 2014 including a ping-pong polka dot pattern, repeating wolves, tiger camo and more. New face sizes and mis-matched straps also make an appearance.
Publish Bucket Hats for Fall 2014 – Publish continues on with their strong headwear game for Fall 2014 with a new range of lightweight patterned bucket hats. Their jogger pant game is also expanding with new cuts, water-resistant materials and a women’s version.
Married to the Mob x Palladium Pampa Boots – NYC label Married to the Mob has partnered with Palladium boots on a leopard print chukka for the ladies that hits this fall. Also be on the look out for Palladium’s partnership with Alpha Industries, as shown on Selectism.
Vans California “Tortoise Eyelet” Suede Era Pack – A gorgeous new Era rendition from the Vans California collection done in washed out suedes with premium tortoise eyelets, gum sole, leather flag and more. These are an excellent take on the classic, and are just one example of what’s to come from Vans in 2014.
Anwar Carrots x Puma Suede – Anwar Carrots of Peas & Carrots International has landed himself not one but two of his own Puma Clyde colorways. The shoes feature his name and signature across the insoles and the PNCINTL logo on the tongue. Look for these to release later this year.
Hurley Phantom Wetsuits – With Nike at their core, Hurley pushes forward with bold surf innovation for 2014. Super stretch neoprene, thermo-light and power seams are three of the words they’re throwing around to describe how lightweight, strong, flexible and reactive these wetsuits are. They look good too.
Nixon Carbon Fibre Tide Watch – Featuring the same carbon material you see on high-end knives, this blacked-out Nixon tide watch is one of many an excellent additions to their line for 2014. Note the reversed crown positioning for optimal wrist comfort while surfing.
Clae Fall 2014 Footwear Collection – Clae always brings a worthy alternative to many of the big footwear names. For Fall 2014, the D-ring laced mid-top hybrid hiking boot sneaker is a strong new addition to the roster, especially in oxblood leather.

The boathouse has been long due for an upgrade. So many of the structures designed to shelter boats evoke the ambiance of a 19th-century oil painting, with little regard for fitting in with a bustling 21st-century metropolis. Which is what makes Chicago’s newest boathouse, designed by Studio Gang Architects, feel so fresh.

With Fantasia, you can repurpose just about anything baton-shaped, be it a broom handle or a carrot, into a lamp.
Early Disney fans will remember the scene in Fantasia where the brooms start to multiply and take over, nearly trampling the magician’s assistant with their anthropomorphic legs. The Fantasia lamps, from Italian design studio MID, aren’t nearly as menacing. But they do possess some Disney magic in the way they can turn nearly any baton-shaped item–broom handles, carrots, spoons–into a standing lamp.
